Can I start free and switch plans later?

Yes, once our team plan is live, we will offer a path to automatically upgrading from the free plan. If you need help with data migration to a self-hosted setup or need an immediate solution before our team plan goes live, please contact us and talk to us about a dedicated setup.

Is Mathesar Cloud the same as open source Mathesar?

Yes. Mathesar Cloud is Mathesar offered as software-as-a-service, for users and organizations who want the convenience of using Mathesar without managing their own infrastructure or self-hosting. All of Mathesar's code and features are, and will continue to be, 100% open source.

Who maintains and operates Mathesar Cloud?

Mathesar Cloud is built and operated by Mathesar Foundation, the same nonprofit that maintains the open source project. All revenue from Mathesar Cloud supports the nonprofit and maintainers, and helps us keep the Mathesar project sustainable for the long term.

Who is dedicated hosting for?

Dedicated is for users and organizations whose requirements do not fit the standard plans. That can include dedicated infrastructure, custom configuration or capacity, setup or migration help, managed operations, or an implementation and support review before rollout. If in doubt, talk to us!

Should I choose dedicated hosting or self-host Mathesar?

Choose self-hosting if your team wants full infrastructure control and is ready to handle deployment, upgrades, backups, security, and day-to-day operations. Choose dedicated hosting if you would benefit from external support to fully manage a hosted deployment for your organization.
